"Book matching"

Book matching is the process of selecting two boards for joining together that have mirror-image grain patterns. These boards are attained by resawing a piece of lumber, so that when the boards are laid down face up, like opening a book, the faces that are exposed are mirror images of each other. When joined, the results can be spectacular.
