Poplar - Liriodendron tulipifera

Wood Characteristics:
Poplar is even textured, closed grained, stable and of medium hardness.

Color:
The heartwood is pale greenish-yellow while the sapwood is white. Occasional dark purple streaks occur.

Workability:
The tight closed grain results in outstanding paintability. If you are staining I recommend using darker stains. Paint wash finishes and clear finishes are not recommended because of the greenish tint of the wood. Picture is shown with a no finish.
